The VSOR Observatory utilizes a Davis Wireless Vantage Pro2 Plus to monitor local weather conditions. This instrument currently operates as a stand alone weather station, but can easily be integrated into many observatory automation software programs. The station utilizes frequency hopping spread spectrum radio technology to transmit weather data wirelessly to the base unit display, which is located inside the house. The Pro2 is mounted on a small PVC stand, given the lack of a permanent mounting location. A webcam and Unihedron SQM-LE sky quality meter are also integrated into the PVC stand. Data from the station is currently reported to WU, CWOP, and Weather Bug via the HauteWind WiFi appliance.
